The future is bright. The future is Gorringe

22 Jun 2018

The appointment of Tom Gorringe excited me and many other gasheads. If we increase our revenue then we can increase our spend on players. Although it sounds simple, it’s a hard thing to achieve. Here’s 5 things he’s done in his short tenure worth recognising.

Step up
The quality and likely impact of the season ticket advert was far reaching. I’m sure he didn’t make it personally, but it shows the increase in professionalism expected in all areas of the club

Pasties
I know they’re only pasties (and massive sausage rolls) but they are a good indication of how each area of the match day experience is being improved as much as is possible too

Bar improvements
See above. Cider I up

Taking feedback
I think we’re so lucky to have an approachable board. If anyone’s got any questions for Wael and co then he isn’t hard to find on away days. Tom though has been actively seeking feedback with various forms of fan engagement. Social media posts and pie trials are two that immediately spring to mind

End of season awards
My 5 points end on the end of seasons awards. Don’t get me wrong, I’m nostalgic and loved a good supporters club ‘doo’ watching the end of season goals on a 14inch telly (and still would). However, the event this year was a level beyond anything we’ve seen before. I’d book next years ticket now if I could

Obviously he’ll have had help with all of these, but the modernisation which had occurred since he came won’t be coincidence
