Having a Gas

Having a Gas (the BBC Radio Bristol show dedicated to Rovers) gives Gasheads and the club an amazing platform. It has also had 5 amazing stories worth remembering

Mckeever meets Ian Holloway
Mark said that the second time he ever heard Holloway ‘speak’ was when he jumped on the physios table at Man City away and started singing Rovers songs. He said the most mental aspect was that most of the players joined in too

Nick Day
Nick had so many interesting stories about his time on the PA. He mentioned being understudy to Keith Valley who announced Gary Flitcroft as “Gary Flipflop” which made I chuckle. His best story IMO was when Keith came on the mic at full time (ending a game with an awful balding referee) and announced “the guy in the pink crash helmet is available for pantomimes”

Anwar Uddin
It was awesome hearing about the diversity events occurring at the memorial stadium. Anwar’s story about leaving West Ham and thinking our players would be a much lower standard… until he encountered Vitas Astafjves was also brilliant.

Phil Purnell
“Percey” recalled a lot about the team spirit and personal development shown by that amazing early 90s squad. The exciting bit for me was the similarities with our current crop (and manager). Both traits are important for progression and overachiving

Browner the prankster
When asked who played the best prank on him, Harrison said he owned Lee Brown £20 quid and hadn’t given it back… So Browner nicked a wheel from his car and wouldn’t return it until he paid up. “He’s a mechanic him”

The show returns next week at 6pm on the Second of August and is definitely worth a listen.
